The first annual Arizona SciTech Festival has come to an end and I couldn’t be more proud of what we’ve accomplished this year. When we set out to organize a science festival for Arizona, we wanted to facilitate a grassroots, community-driven celebration of science and technology to enhance awareness of the many strengths and opportunities possessed by the state in STEM. As a community, we’ve achieved this goal and set the stage for exciting opportunities in the years to come.

Casa Grande Union High School

Around 4000 students descended upon Casa Grande Union High School on Monday, March 5th for one of the Arizona SciTech Festival’s Signature Events. With students and teachers from six high schools, two middle schools, and two elementary schools in attendance, science and technology were in full swing all day long. Stephaine Frimer, CGUHSD Curriculum Specialist, said of the event, “We started planning for this in October through our leadership committee” and added how the project continued to grow throughout the process.

Occupational Career Day at Gateway Community College

High school students from across the Valley took part in an Occupational Career and Job Fair at Gateway Community College yesterday. Twenty-five schools participated in the event, which was held at the school’s 40th Street and Washington location. GCC’s College Recruitment and Outreach Center Manager, Lina Scott, stated that more than 400 participants had registered for the event, which started off with a twenty minute presentation about what the school has to offer.
