Arizona man finds Lindbergh treasures in trunk
Sunday, Feb 26, 2012

Nova Hall was cleaning out his garage in Sedona 13 years ago when he discovered an old steamer trunk with his grandfather's initials on it. It was a treasure trove.

The trunk contained blueprints drawn by his grandfather Donald A. Hall of the Spirit of St. Louis, the airplane in which legendary aviator Charles Lindbergh flew the first-ever solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean.

Lindbergh flew from New York to Paris in 1927. To do that, he needed a special aircraft, one that would fit his 6-foot-3 frame. In the trunk were photographs of his grandfather and Lindbergh in their mid-20s, as well as letters and notes the pair exchanged regarding the aircraft

Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012

Arizona State University graduate Nova Hall prefers to tell the story of his grandfather, who designed the airplane Charles Lindbergh flew across the Atlantic in 1927, through artwork.

The public will have a chance to hear and see that story through Hall's "Flying Over Time" art exhibit from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Arizona State University's West campus, 4701 W. Thunderbird Road. The exhibit will be in the La Sala Ballroom inside the University Center Building.

The show should be the highlight of a daylong, campuswide gala dubbed Ex-STATIC -- Excellence in Science, Technology And Team-based Interdisciplinary Creativity -- which is one of about a dozen Arizona SciTech Festival events happening around the Valley that day.
